Heart of Birmingham Vocational College

Heart of Birmingham Vocational College launched in September 2014.

HBVC offers full-time Study Programmes that provide individualised learning experiences, developing key employability and supported living skills for learners with moderate/severe and ASD needs.

Through our programmes, learners will work to gain experience and learn new skills to support your employability aspirations and improve your independence skills.

We will support our learners to strengthen their resilience and expand the skills they need to make the very best of their future.

Employability Skills are transferable skills needed by an individual to make them 'employable'. Along with good understanding and knowledge of their role, employers often outline a set of skills that they want from an employee.

Independent Living Skills are learned to enable a person to have the ability to look at alternatives and make informed decisions about and direct their own life.

This ability requires the availability of information, financial resources and peer group support systems. Independent living is a dynamic process, involving many skills, it can never be static.
